This Chicago-based manufacturer develops and packages automotive and chemical consumer products sold under multiple well-known brands. The team is collaborative, cross-functional, and fast-moving. This is a fully on-site role located in Chicago, IL.

This Technical Director role offers a real opportunity to shape the department from the ground up. The company has active growth plans, and this role is positioned to expand in scope as that growth happens.

Technical Manager Job Duties

• Lead product development from concept through commercialization, working cross-functionally with R&D, supply chain, manufacturing, marketing, and sales
• Oversee quality assurance and control across raw materials, manufacturing, and finished products, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Ensure company compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements including EPA, OSHA, ISO standards, GMP, and product-specific regulations
• Guide and mentor a team of five direct reports spanning chemistry, quality, regulatory, project management, and technical administration
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve product quality and operational efficiency

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, flexible start time.
• Primarily on-site with occasional work-from-home flexibility.

Pay: Up to $140,000 annually, plus 10% annual bonus potential, based on experience.

Technical Manager Requirements

• 5 or more years of experience in product development, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within chemical, lubricant, fuel, automotive, or related consumer packaged goods manufacturing
• Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and managing direct reports across multiple technical disciplines
• Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks including ISO standards, GMP, EPA, and OSHA requirements
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and hit defined timelines
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Quality Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered in place of a degree
